Hello, I'm Victoria del la Varis, Tor&Co founder and director. Tor&Co makes beautiful, natural skin and hair care that lavishes your body and soothes your senses. This is the first ever Tor&Co Blog post, so here's a big welcome to my Natural Skin & Hair Care Blog!
Tor&Co's Origins
My Tor & Co journey started with learning about aromatherapy, and from there I followed my curiosity about biochemistry and skin science, leading me on to learn how to formulate natural skin and hair care products. With care and determination, I developed my knowledge and skills in cosmetic formulation, and after years of formulating skin and hair care products for myself, my family and my friends, my desire to help others look after their skin and hair grew into a passion...
By working steadily on developing perfectly balanced, purposeful products, I was soon overwhelmed with requests from family and friends for more. In 2022, I knew it was time to start my business and build my brand. I launched Tor&Co in October 2023, seven years after starting my cosmetic formulation journey. In June 2024, I received a Certificate in Advanced Organic Cosmetic Formulation from the Institute of Personal Care Science!
Tor is my family of origin nickname. I was the middle-child of five, with a mother who was a full-time drama teacher (thanks for everything you did for us Mum!). It fell to me to look after my baby brother Raffaello - Raff. Raff shortened my name 'Victoria' to a more manageable 'Tor', as toddlers will do, and very soon 'Tor' became my name for everyone close to me.
I would like to say a big thank you to everyone in my family, but especially to my husband Douglas, my sister Antonia, and my three sons who have been willing participants in product development, and the most amazing cheerleaders for me as a business entrepreneur... Because of them you are able to experience your little packages of Tor&Co joy that are hand made in my laboratory in the Kaipara region of Northland, New Zealand.
